What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis or hyperhidrosis is sweating to a greater extent than is necessary for the body’s normal heat regulation. The problem is more common on the palms, soles or underarms, less common on the face, and is mainly related to emotional factors and heat regulation.

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation
  • Myasthenic and myastenoid syndromes (including Lambert-Eaton syndrome)
  • Lactose intolerance for Dysport injections
  • Inflammation at the injection site
  • Acute infectious diseases;
  • Severe myopia (according to ophthalmologist’s decision)
  • History of severe allergy (especially hypersensitivity to protein preparations)
  • Taking antibiotics belonging to the group of aminoglycosides, macrolides, tetracyclines, polymyxins that potentiate the effect of the toxin (if not more than two weeks have elapsed), as well as medicines that increase intracellular calcium levels, benzodiazepines, anticoagulants and platelet inhibitors.
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Severe gravitational depression of facial tissues
  • Marked swelling in the upper and lower eyelids
  • Less than 3 months after facial surgery
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Possible side effects:

  • Local reactions: 2-5% of cases – microhaematomas (up to 7 days), pain at the injection site (up to 1 day)
  • General symptoms: slight weakness for 1 week (occurring at doses in excess of the maximum permitted – more than 600 units for Dysport)
  • Reactions related to the distribution of the drug to muscle groups close to the injection site: very rare – lowering of the eyelids, subsidence of the eyebrow and lateral part of the eyebrows, accommodation disorder, asymmetry of the corners of the mouth, articulation disorder, numbness of the lips
  • These side effects usually do not require further treatment and regress within 1 month after the injection
