At Melior Clinic, we use botulinum toxin type A. Botulinum toxin, or “botulinum,” is a purified protein derived from a natural bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. In aesthetic medicine, it is used in very small doses to relax specific facial muscles that cause expression lines – such as forehead wrinkles, frown lines, or crow’s feet around the eyes. Its effect does not “freeze” the muscles but gently softens their movement, giving the face a more refreshed and relaxed appearance. Before the procedure
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning substances 24–48 hours before the procedure – they can increase the risk of bruising.
- If you have recently had an inflammatory condition (e.g. viral illness or fever), be sure to inform us.
- Do not schedule the procedure right before an important event – although recovery time is minimal, temporary redness or swelling may occur.
- Make sure you are well-rested and drink enough water – this supports the body's recovery.
After the procedure
- Do not lie down or massage the injection site within the first 4 hours.
- Avoid exercise, sauna, solarium, and alcohol for 24 hours.
- Do not apply facial massage or other facial procedures for 48 hours.
- Mild redness or swelling at the injection site is normal – it typically resolves quickly.
- The full effect usually appears within 7–14 days. Results develop gradually – the first effect may be visible after 3–5 days, with the maximum effect showing within 1–2 weeks.
- Please come for a botox check-up within 14 days, so we can assess the result and provide additional correction if needed (free of charge).
